At the beginning of 2018, the 61st edition of this prestigious award was held with the participation of 4,548 photographers from 125 countries, who presented the jury with 73,044 photographs in 8 different categories (Contemporary Themes, General News, Projects a Long Term, Sports, Nature, People, News). P>
The winner in 2018 is the Venezuelan photographer Ronaldo Schemidt who won the World Press Photo of the year and the 1st prize in the News News category - Individual with his iconic image of José Víctor Salazar Balza as he burns in the middle of violent clashes with riot police during a protest against President Nicolás Maduro, in Caracas, Venezuela. p>
This exhibition has been done in other places to reach a total of 100 cities in 45 countries. p>
