At the end of the 1980s, the Japanese manufacturer Sony produced a series of compact camcorders that record on 8mm magnetic tapes. This series of small cameras was given the name of "Handycam."

Despite their small size, these cameras incorporate advanced technology that allows recording videos of very good quality with a very simple operation.
